There was that buzz around the ground , you could sense something was about to happen, someone had to give way,20 odd balls for the great man to take a single ! he definately is a better player than that. Then came a rank wide ball outside the off stump and the great man obliged pushing at that giving a regulation catch to the keeper.Dejected and Dissapointment as always , he started the walk back to the pavilion, but something was different this time , amidst the stunned silence which is uncharateristically becoming a little too common nowadays you could hear few booooos and cat calls.....This was something new to happen to the great man. This to a man who was synonymous with indian cricket for almost a decade..it was Sachin=Indian Cricket. Now this on a day whn the great man broke the world record for maximum appearances by an indian in Test Matches. The man just walked on into the dressing room without even looking up. The damage had been done.
2 Days later same venue, India Battling to save the test match and as always The Wall and the Great Man at the crease. At Lunch india were 75/3 , people started talking about india winning/drawing and saving the test series. But then 3 balls after lunch The Wall crumbled to Freddie and the Great man followed him in the next over to a little know Udal , a soft dismissal, again a walk back to the dressing room , his last mebbe in about 2-3 coming months. He will be out with a surgery on his shoulder which is another of his body part succumbing to the wear and tear of 16 years of international cricket ( Which has been half his lifetime so far ). First his back, then his toe, finger, knee ....A small tear rolled down my cheek and so would have from millions of supporters as the unthinkable was beginning to happen. Is this anywhere near the beginning of the end..afterall everyone needs to understand all good things have to come ot an end someday..But still heart takes over the mind in some matters when it comes to people close to you.
He is GOD , He bats at No.4 for India. ( a Banner which was going around the stadium yesterday )
God is definately down but am sure not 'out' yet.
Was a sad day for indian cricket that we lost to the english..
Anyway hope ODIs sans Sachin bring something to cheer for..
Will Continue Worshipping the undisputed GOD of indian cricket though,
One among a million Dejected,Dissapointed Sachin Fan
